RED BOX THAILAND ‘SUN AND THE SEA GATHERING’ 2012
Red Box plan to be in Bangkok in early 2012 for press and promotion and we have come up with an idea we’d like to share.
It is a big idea and may prove impractical, but hey, welcome to our world!
Southern Thailand is a favourite place for us, and we have always dreamed of performing a concert on an amazing private tropical island we know of in the Andaman Sea.
But we don’t just want to play acoustic guitars - we envisage a special one-off, fully-plugged, unique and visual show - a large rig and whatever it takes, but right there on the sand at the edge of the sea, and access only by boat.
Obviously this may be of interest to our fans in the Far East, but for those of you who perhaps take a winter holiday, or might consider doing so in early 2012, we thought that this could be a good opportunity to join us for a 3 day Red Box ‘Sun and the Sea’ Gathering’ with this intimate beach concert at its heart.
In addition to this concert performance we would run band-related activities, one-to-one chats, workshops and a beach BBQ with an additional acoustic performance.
Total duration: three nights.
The island (Koh Bon) is owned by a wonderful, cool and stylish hotel called The Evason Phuket, a Six Senses Hotel on its’ own quiet headland on the very southern tip of Phuket (a 1 hour flight from Bangkok). Koh Bon is about 2 miles offshore from the hotel and we will be transported there by native longtail boats.

We have agreed a special room rate with the management for any fans who want to join us, a healthy discount not only for the 3 days, but for any additional nights if you want to extend your stay.
The Gathering itself would have a nominal ticket price to cover the technical challenge of a concert on a deserted island, but it would be a non-profit endeavour.
We will of course film and record the event.
This is a stunning part of the world with wonderful people, excellent food, amazing beaches, lovely weather and calm, crystal-clear waters teaming with fish.
We are happy to recommend ways to extend your holiday (either before or after the Gathering) to suit most budgets – Thailand can STILL be enjoyed VERY cheaply.
